Who will Rafa sign?

TEAM OF 07-08?
OK so we have now we have the cash to compete with those dirty MANCS and Chelsea scum but what are we going to do with it?

We have been linked with various players in various positions as we are every summer, but the difference this time is that we can actually buy them if he want to do so.

STRIKERS: Robbie ‘God’ Fowler is now gone. We will always love you Robbie. That but that leaves us with three recognised strikers. Dirk Kuyt, Peter Crouch and Craig Bellamy + a fit-again Luis Garcia.

Kuyt seems to be the only one of the trio who is assured of a position next season. Dirk is great at holding the ball up and bringing the midfielders into the game but I think he could be more effective with a fast livewire striker supporting him.

Crouch has apparently been told by Rafa that he still has a future at the club and fair play, his form this season has shown that he will get goals when given solid game time.

Controversial striker Craig Bellamy is the least secure of the three and could be on the way out if we sign a similar style running forward (Owen, Eto’o etc)

I think Luis will still be at the club next season. Haven’t heard anything regarding a move and he is apparently fit and already in training for next season.

We have been linked to numerous strikers including Samuel Eto’o, David Villa, Carlos Tevez and Darren Bent. Who would you go for? I think Eto’o is a gem of a player. He has proven it at the top with Barcelona and will get us 20 goals a season. Tevez is the other striker I would purchase. After his slow start at the Hammers showed what he can do in an ordinary side. Imagine what he could do with the proper support.

That would leave Dirk and Crouchy on the bench assuming Bellamy leaves the club this summer.

FLANKERS: Our biggest issue. We need at least two new established ‘World Class’ flankers.

Jermaine Pennant has had a so so debut season at the club, Harry Kewell can be brilliant on his day but is to injury prone to rely on over the length of a season, Mark Gonzalez and Bolo Zenden are going to be sold by Rafa this summer.

The number one flanker I would like to have is the one Rafa is going to get (hopefully). SIMAO. He is quick, tricky, set piece master and is has big game experience. We almost had him at the start of the 05-06 season then he came back to bite us in the Champions league with Benfica that season.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD: I am very glad and proud to say that I wouldn’t swap out centre of the park with anyone. We have the best midfield in world football. Stevie, Mascherano, Momo and Alonso. Perfect.

DEFENCE: Rafa could make a few changes here. Carra is obviously safe but the rest is there for the taking in my books. Stevie Finnan, Daniel Agger, John Arne Riise (love’em all) they are all solid consistent performers but is Rafa looking for more?

I know Finnan is being offered a new deal so I assume he is safe. Brazilian Daniel Alves has been linked with us for some time now. He can play both as a right sided flanker and as an attacking full-back. Would give Finnan some very serious competition.

Agger has been another example of Rafa’s mastery. What a bargain. But we are still being linked with other established central defender like Diego Milito (Argentinean defender from Real Zaragoza) so who knows. I’m 100% sure Agger will be with us next term but maybe Rafa wants to keep him on his toes.

Hyppia is another loyal servant of the club who looks like he may be surplus to requirements at the club next season. If he does go, I’m sure every Reds fan will wish him the best.

IN GOAL: Pepe Reina. Enough said.

I AM PUMPED to think about who could be wearing our famous jersey next season

Those dirty Mancs have already made 2 signings (Nani and Anderson).

SO LETS GET CRACKING RAFA

Let us know if you think everything I just said is rubbish or if you were also thinking along the same lines.

Great team but i would much rather have an english man up front may be some 1 like darren bent who is proven in the premiership. him and crouch up front would be great in my eyes!

  • danny says:

looks preety good to me evan though i would have finnan in my starting 11 over alves any day and villa would be a nice signing but not for that much :)

  • Snorre says:

I think that since Rafa allready has signed Voronin, who plays at the forward position, he is only gonna get 1 more forward. This person will probably be a profiled striker. Etoo has said that he is probably not leaving Barca, so i think he is out of the picture. Same with Villa, his pricetag is way to high, if we’re going to get any other players in. So im thinking that Owen might be a reasonable signing. We also need a left winger now that Zenden and Gonzalez are going to be sold. There has been a lot of talk of signing Malouda. But some people think that he might follow Houllier, who has announced he is leaving Lyon. So I think Liverpool will sign Gamst Pedersen. I read the other day that Rafa have been looking at him for a long time. Another possibility is Simao, but he has proven to be expensive, and hard to get away from Benfica. At last I think we’re going to buy Alves, whos been linked to Liverpool for a long time.

  • Scott Rich says:

well to b honest i think wer a better team then we were 2 years ago but i reckon the reinforcements will win us the league this year and i cant wait to see fergies face when he see’s who we sign!!

we could do with someone like ronaldo and rafa DEFINATELY needs to swallow his pide and buy owen back!! the only reason it doesnt look like owen is doin very well as a footballer is bacause he is at newcastle which is basically like a sunday league team and all their players go for glory and NEVER pass and he cant exactly tackle his own team mate can he!? hes a world class player and needs to be back at a club and playing with oter players of his own ability!!

although the new owners (pinky and perky) may have a lot of money to spend i dont think they have anywhere near enough to buy the quality side listed below. The team below is packed with class and experience not to mention oozing talent in every single position. As a true liverpool fan i think we just arnet good enough to compete with the likes of chelsea or manchester united, they are both great teams who are just too good for us at the moment as they have been for the last three years in chelseas case and i cant remember the last time i could honestly say we had a better team than the great teams of manchester united that sir alex ferguson has put together. in truth we are struggeling to keep up with arsenal as was proved in the carling cup last january,if we are not careful and decisive in signing the players listed below i believe that everton will be snapping at our heels, they have come on leaps and bounds in the last two years and are now a big club who pose a real threat to us. Hope all you other true reds agree with my team selection especially the right back.

I was interested to see the full back Alves play, and I have now seen what a mediocre player he his.The game today-he played against England demonstrated his shortcoming’s, and that was against a very ordinary England side, lacking in ideas and ambition. Alves is way short of Finnan class, and it was pretty obvious he could not tackle or get back to defend in the England Brazil game.I would love to see your forwards line-up at the start of the season. Good Team apart from Alves.

  • sheady says:

    you manics sicken me.

hopefully, without buying the league ala chelsea. i agree we need world class wingers, but i dont see how when rafa wont play stevie in the middle. a world class winger wont come to sit on the bench, the fact is, unless stevie is injured, he will NOT be dropped. but,the fact is that we need 1 anyway so ill throw him in

4get malouda and ribiery ones past it and the other is not realy livein up 2 his expectations and if u have bin watching them play this season u shuld have noticed simar nasri who plays wit them he is only 17 or 18 and is a better long term option and from wat ive seen ov him he is betta than ribiery by far

  • darnee84 says:

I think the team u have is quality i like TEVEZ he is the closest player ive seen in the prem to the dirty blue nose manc ronney and as much as we hate him he is quality and quality is wot we need.

Id have liked to see us challenge UNITED for the NANI signing he is a quality player and left sided which as all LFC fans no is r weakest department.

For me ETOO AND VILLA also have to be considered along with a fit again OWEN.

I agree with one of the lads who has said that players like BENT AND BENTLEY are not LFC quality although i would like to see RAFA try and sign some hungry griity english players who want to step up and show they can make the grade players like NICKY SHOREY LB FOR READING didnt look out of place against brazil and did very well also BAINES LB FROM WIGAN a liverpool lad is also another player that could be considered.

Overall am looking forward to the season my only major concern is RAFAS rotation policy at the start of every season this needs to stop if we r realistically goin to challenge united and chelsea for a trophy that rightly belongs to us.

GOOD LUCK BOYS I NO YOU WONT LET US DOWN

saw alves in all the seville uefa cup matches and thought he was well overrated, saw brazil last night and that just added to me thinkin he is sh*t, stevie finnan has been a legend for us and although 30/31, can still do a great job for a few more seasons at least

  • calvilla says:

i am an aston villa fan…but not a div who knows nothin about football like most bluenoses….(midlands and merseyside!!)Liverpool are a massive club, in my opinion bigger than man utd…5 euro cups…wat else can you say..but i think you def need some upgrades..bellamy..not liverpool class(so come to villa)along with kewell who has got the touch but not the fitness and the temprement to be a starter in the first 11…david villa or eto is needed at anfield to make you a force, kuyt, ballamy and fowler aint the answer. keep crouch tho, he may be 6ft wateva but on the deck he is class. we sold him for 2million to s’ton…wat a waste!!i hope liverpool can break into the top 2 this year….followed by villa the year after!!good luck

i sick of liverpool goin after average players etc, darren bent, matty taylor,if u buy average players u get average results.for too long now liverpool have been buying the so called stars of the future in which we have wasted millions on.we need to be buying mach winners all around the pich not just players who just work hard for the team.i just hope we buy proven world class players eto, tevez, torres lets face it the only star player who can win us games is gerrard.we need a good few mach winners like him or we will never win that premiership title that every kopite craves.

    prefered formation 4-2-3-1

    finnan/–carragger/–agger/–aurelio/
    arbeloa new cb hyypia riise

    gerrard/ — alonso/
    sissoko macherano

pennant/— garcia/—kewell (gonzalez)/ new rm tevez new lm

    crouch/ kuyt/ voronin

let me explain gerrard not exaclty a DCM instead driving force of the team like viera once did for arsenal, more of a baraja from old valencia if you like.
we know gerrard can attack and defend and have game intelligence to know when to.
there is potentially goals all over the place especially midfield where we have been lacking recently.

if lucas starts as a first team player sissoko/ alonso might leave or gerard can move to more attacking role.
though i would rather gerrard in the middle and limited role for lucas in his first season.
depending on opposition, midfield can be attacking or more defensive.
can be easily reverted to 4-4-2 4-5-1 even 4-3-3 with a one substitution or less.
if kewell and gonzalez both leave leto and hammil can back up the new lm.
i’d be happy with one more chance to kewell/ gonzalez, more from a hope from their previous performances or undoubted potential.
they are both injury prone along with aurelio which could badly affect the left side, so a new lm.
need competition for pennant on right to play gerrard in the middle.

    new players
tevez a must or someone of similar attacking swagger.
two wingers/attacking midfielder from malouda/ simao/ quaresmo/ silva/ alves or whoever we are linked to or a surprise from rafa would do fine.
should be able to take on players and score goals.
a center back would be a good addition to the squad if palletta and hobbs fail to make it.
if hyypia leaves add one more to the list.
a left back and a right back depending on riise and arbeloa.
    a keeper if carson leave.

    players leaving
    dudek

    zenden
    bellamy

i heard chris sutton is considerin his future at villa, come on rafa beneathus snap him up.

  • dream on says:

rumor has it chris sutton is available, sutton and crouch almost as good as bellend and kuyt the greasy haird cunt. come on rafael beneathus make more quality signings for extortionate amounts like gonzalez, bellamy, palletta and bellend to name a few. the money he spends on shit could put a massive dent in 3rd world debt, legend

  • lfc 4ever says:

billy sharp and dave nugent arent guna make us win the prem or the champions league thats 4sure. i agree with the people who said we need proven world class talent not wannabes. fuck keep gettin average players who might produce the goods, get people who can!! apparantly weve got the money so stop fuckin around we hungarians and get it sorted. that liverpool dream team is absolutely amazing though!! not 2 sure how realistic but it gets my vote, nice 1!!

  • Antony says:

Come on i doubt we’ll get Eto or Villa.
Benitez is too slow….He needs to sign players quicker or else other clubs like Chelsea are going to take them from us.
    Chelsea want Malouda too.
Alves is going to go to Chelsea.
We’re not going to get a decent striker like Villa,Eto or Tevez.
Maybe someone like Bent will come to us but Benitez is really a good manager in signing world class players.
Tevez doesn’t want to stay in England.
Villa is staying and so is Eto unless Barca buy Henry.
Bellamy – Definitely need to get rid of.
    Zenden – Same

  • Antony says:

    Why are we signing Benayoun…..?
    We need a quality winger.
He’s just another Zenden – Waste of space.
Come on Benitez – Sign some worldclass players and then we may have a chance of winning the premiership.

  • Gav says:

All i want for Liverpool is an out and out strikers, a 20 goal a season man. Instead of going 5m or 10m here and there on a few players, Rafa should just put all the effort into getting someone like eto’o, toni, torres etc

if you look at the past seasons the only thing liverpool have been lacking is a goal machine like nistelrooy, henry, drogba.

solid defense, brilliant midfield, maybe lacking in wingers but a goalscorer should be snapped up asap and then build a team around him and our CMs
